Defending Champions CSK entered the final for the straight 2nd time but Rohit Sharma-led MIs paused their campaign in the 2019 IPL final. Mumbai won the high-strung contest by 1 run to lift their 4th IPL Cup.

Sunrisers Hyderabad came out as the champions of the 2016 IPL. Led by David Warner, Hyderabad beat Virat Kohli-led RCB in the IPL final to lift their maiden IPL Cup.
